Although still referenced as the most recent immigrants, the truth is, Mexicans have been in Chicago for more than 100 years. There is a rich cultural history, and more than a century’s worth of contributions from Mexicans that have made our great city, and the United States, what it is today.
MEX talks is an annual, one-day speaker series that explores the state of Mexicans in the city of Chicago and in the United States.
Led by Mexican and Mexican-American speakers, but open to all, MEX talks highlights the Mexican community’s contributions to, full participation in, and advancement of US business, politics, education, the arts and more.
This year’s MEX talks focuses on “that thing”, the “secret ingredient” that drives entrepreneurs, hard workers, and every-day heroes from humble beginnings to the pinnacle of their field in the United States.
I’m on Latinos Progresando’s Board of Directors.
